The terror of the “Choti Katwa Witch” now in cinema halls
Mumbai : The much-discussed horror–comedy film Siharan, produced under the banner of Om Shivay Films, has now been released in cinema halls across India. The film’s official trailer was launched worldwide on the 10th by Red Bulb Studio and received an excellent response from audiences.
Producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia stated that Siharan is a powerful combination of horror and comedy, offering not only fear and full entertainment but also a strong social message.
The film’s lead actress is Aradhana Sachan, while Abhishek Sharma, Jitendra Yadav, and Madhushree Shah appear in prominent roles. The writing, story, screenplay, and direction of the film have been done by Manish Kumar Verma, who has effectively presented strong action along with horror and comedy.
A special concept of betel leaf (paan) cultivation has been included in the story on the suggestion of producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia. The film powerfully portrays the problems of betel farmers, their business, and the exploitation they face from small villages to big cities.
Co-producer Abha Chaurasia shared that the film highlights issues such as regressive thinking in rural society, color discrimination among women, and social inequality. The film is based on women empowerment and conveys the message that if a woman is determined, she can overcome any difficulty.
The producer’s daughter, Priyanshi Chaurasia, plays the role of a news reporter in the film. She said that she liked the story very much and that being part of this project was a memorable experience for her. Dr. Akanksha is seen delivering a strong performance as the village woman Neelima.
Aradhana Sachan has also served as the Casting Director and Project Head of the film, efficiently handling her responsibilities along with her acting role.
The film’s cinematography has been handled by Raj Yadav, whose camera work gives the film an impressive visual touch.
The action sequences have been designed by Beer Master, showcasing powerful action completely at the level of South Indian films. Shot in regions like Satna and Chhatarpur, the film offers audiences plenty of action and thrill.
The film features a total of four beautiful songs, composed by W. Sahis and melodiously sung by Anushka Banerjee. The background music has been composed by Aniket Bhardwaj and Sanket Gundekar. Art direction was handled by C. P. Sen, with Ravi Rangila as the Assistant Art Director, while makeup was done by Guddu Golden.
Producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia informed that the film’s shooting began on 15 October 2023 and continued for approximately 30 days. Major scenes were shot at the famous religious site Atra Sarkar Ji Hanuman Temple in Khajuraho district, nearby forests, and various other locations.
Dhruv Singh Baghel also appears in an important role in the film, while Durgesh Kumar is seen in a significant psychological role. Around 80–90 artists and technical collaborators from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai have contributed to the film.
Producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia has also worked as an Associate Director in the film and portrayed the character of Police Inspector Ajay Nayak. Several artists from Chhatarpur district have played important roles, with Rajesh Mahanto being especially notable in the role of an MLA.
Before this film, producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia had already made 52 episodes of a documentary series titled Vindhya Ki Virasat, which were telecast on Doordarshan. He received great appreciation for this work. He has also made a documentary film on betel leaf (paan).
The film was shot at beautiful locations in Madhya Pradesh such as Garhi Malhara, nearby villages, Chhatarpur city, Satna, Madhavgarh Fort, and A.K.S. University. Artists from Satna, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Indore, Itarsi, Gwalior, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh were given opportunities in the film.
Bollywood actors Mustaq Khan and Junior Mehmood have made audiences laugh a lot with their comedy roles, while the main villain has been portrayed by Satyam Shukla. Other prominent artists include Vijay Manavatkar, Ajay Srivastava, Neeraj Singh Rajput, K. L. Randhawa, Pratap Verma, Anju Rastogi, among many others.

The film’s pan-India distribution has been handled by Pickle Entertainment.
Producer Hari Narayan Chaurasia stated that the film, released from 12 December, is performing well in cinema halls.
